antigonae
by Carl Orff
Directed by James Hampton
University of Texas at Austin Opera
February 2002
This was the first American production of Carl Orff's opera version of the Greek tragedy. A dusty destroyed world was created, not tied to any specific culture or time period. The production was a mix of ancient Greek and modern dress to bring the story forward in time and present it as more than a piece of history.
